<image:title>Our Story - Born in the rural village of Mayen-Abun in Twic State, South Sudan, cousins Sebastian Maroundit and Mathon Noi were less than ten years old when war came to their village and separated them from their families. They escaped to Ethiopia only to experience war again within 4 years. In 1991, they escaped from Ethiopia and spent a year walking across the hot desert to a refugee camp in Kenya. In this camp, both entered first grade at age 14 and completed 8th grade. In 2001, Sebastian and Mathon were selected as two of the 3,800 who would resettle in the United States. Mathon graduated from Niagara University majoring in Accounting and Sebastian received an Associate's Degree in Business from Monroe Community College and studied further at SUNY Brockport.</image:title>

<image:title>Ambassador Program - What is the Ambassador Program?</image:title>
<image:caption>Our Ambassador Program is the conduit through which Sebastian and Mathon can tell their amazing stories in person: accounts of being wounded by gunfire, walking overland five years, covering thousands of miles, living in refugee camps, and finally resettling in the United States and becoming US citizens. Their presentations include riveting descriptions not only of their harrowing stories, but important details about how Building Minds in South Sudan is changing lives: thousands of excited children attending BMISS-funded schools, new water towers irrigating women-owned gardens, women opening tea shops, restaurants and even breweries. These BMISS programs provide life-changing benefits to women entrepreneurs and school children from kindergarten through college, all due to the generosity of American students, Rotary clubs, faith communities, philanthropists and many individual donors.</image:caption>
