In 2013, BMISS successfully piloted “teacher training” between the teachers of Ajong Primary School with the help of professors at the University of California, Davis. The teachers in Mayen-Abun gathered around a laptop and observed a practical science lesson via Skype. Sebastian, co-founder of BMISS, interpreted for them. The South Sudanese teachers used the same teaching methodology with their students. The teachers returned to talk to the American professors via Skype to discuss the classroom experience. The students and teachers of Ajong Primary School and the professors in California were pleased with the results. Our plan is to further develop teacher training with additional colleges and universities.
